My mother had kept every certificate, letter, and land document in a series of plastic bags for thirty years. I booked the home visit not knowing what to expect. Nadia spent about two and a half hours working through everything with us — she was very calm about the messiness of it all. We did the Heritage Index Workshop as a family — me, my two siblings, and my father. It was actually quite a nice experience, even if it took longer than expected because we kept stopping to talk about particular items. The facilitator was patient. One thing I had not anticipated was how different each of us remembered where things were kept. The binder at the end was a shared reference we could all agree on. Would recommend for families with older parents.

I want to be clear about what Vestige is — they are not a legal service, which I already knew before booking. What I needed was someone to help me catalogue what my late father had kept. The inventory visit did exactly that. I now have a clear list of what exists and where it is. Sorting out what to do with each item was my own responsibility afterwards, but having the list made that process much more manageable.

We enrolled in the Heritage Records Programme because my family had records in three languages — Mandarin, English, and Malay — and a lot of very old photographs with no labels. Zulkifli was thorough. The scanning checklist included in the programme was something I had not thought to ask for but ended up being very useful. The handbook at the end is something I think my children will be glad to have one day.

Good experience overall. The home visit was efficient and the folder kit is well-made — not the kind of thing you could easily put together yourself. My only minor note is that I had hoped to get a digital version of the inventory, but the printed format is the standard output. That said, the printed page is clear enough that I scanned it myself afterwards. Service does what it says it will do.

Booked the Heritage Index Workshop for my parents' 40th anniversary — a bit of an unusual gift, but my mother had been talking for years about wanting to organise everything before it was too late. We did the workshop at the SS23 premises. It was a calm environment, nothing clinical about it. My parents enjoyed it. The binder they came home with has already become something my mother references regularly.
